Analytics FAQ
How are unique visitors counted?
A visitor counts once per link per day, using a hash that rotates daily. Over longer ranges uniques are the sum of daily uniques, so someone who returns on three different days counts three times.
Do you store visitors’ IP addresses?
No. Raw IP addresses are never stored. Country comes from our network provider at the edge, and unique visitors use a daily rotating hash that cannot be linked across days.
Are bots and link previews counted?
Crawlers and link-preview fetchers from apps like WhatsApp, Slack and X are recognised and kept out of your click and visitor counts.
How long is analytics data kept?
Raw click events are kept for 90 days and hourly totals for 180 days. Daily totals are kept for the analytics period of your plan.
Can I export my analytics?
Yes. Export the time series or the raw click log — including country, region, city, device, browser, OS, referrer, UTM tags and QR-scan flag — as CSV for any range.
Do you need a tracking script on my website?
Not for link analytics. Clicks are measured when people pass through your short link, so nothing needs to be installed on the destination site. If you also want page views, sessions and live visitors for your own website, add the optional 2xurl website analytics script.
